The Seal of God According to the Bible
by Digging for Truth
God
puts his "seal of
ownership" on
those who believe in Christ Jesus and have faith in His promises. God
did not say keep the Sabbath and I will seal you.
Ephesians 1:13,14 (NIV): “And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory.”
2 Corinthians 1:21,22 (NIV): “Now it is God who makes both, us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit guaranteeing what is to come”.
Ephesians: 4:30 (NIV): “And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.”
Please note that Sabbath is NEVER called a SEAL, neither in the Old Covenant nor in the New Covenant. Sabbath keeping will never entitle anyone to receive the SEAL OF GOD. The Seal of ownership is the Son and the Father's name written in the forehead and is not the Sabbath!
Revelations 14:1 (NIV) “Then I looked, and there before me was the Lamb, standing on Mount Zion, and with him 144,000 who had his name and his Father’s name written on their foreheads.”
Is the Sabbath ever called a seal? No
Exodus. 31:17 (NIV) "It will be a sign between me and the Israelites forever, for in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, and on the seventh day he rested and was refreshed."
Ezekiel. 20:12 (NVI) “Also I gave them my Sabbaths as a sign between us, so they would know that I the LORD made them holy.”
Is the Sabbath a requirement for the nations? No
Ex 31:12-13 (NVI) “Then the LORD said to Moses, “Say to the Israelites, ‘You must observe my Sabbaths. This will be a sign between me and you for the generations to come, so you may know that I am the LORD, who makes you holy.”
Conclusion:
Romans 10:9 (NIV) “If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved”.
Ephesians 1:13,14 (NIV): “And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation.
