The Latter Rain Revival – A Gnostic Doctrine
Since the late 1800’s, sectarian movements in America have been preaching about something called “The Latter Rain Revival”. In more recent days, we have been seeing a real revival taking place but the question is; is this “Latter Rain Revival” a real prophetic movement from God or is it an Antichrist messianic movement contaminated with all sorts of New Age teachings? Should we wait for this “Latter Rain Holy Spirit” to pour itself in our hearts or did it already happen when we believed and accepted Jesus Christ? What does the Bible say about it?
"And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory." Ephesians 1:13-14 (NVI 1984)
The Coming of the Kingdom of God
The Apostle Luke said:
"Once, having been asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, Jesus replied, “The kingdom of God does not come with your careful observation, nor will people say, ‘Here it is,’ or ‘There it is,’ because the kingdom of God is within you.” Then he said to his disciples, “The time is coming when you will long to see one of the days of the Son of Man, but you will not see it. Men will tell you, ‘There he is!’ or ‘Here he is!’ Do not go running off after them. For the Son of Man in his day will be like the lightning, which flashes and lights up the sky from one end to the other. But first he must suffer many things and be rejected by this generation. “Just as it was in the days of Noah, so also will it be in the days of the Son of Man. People were eating, drinking, marrying and being given in marriage up to the day Noah entered the ark. Then the flood came and destroyed them all. “It was the same in the days of Lot. People were eating and drinking, buying and selling, planting and building. But the day Lot left Sodom, fire and sulfur rained down from heaven and destroyed them all. 30 “It will be just like this on the day the Son of Man is revealed." Luke 17:20-30 (NIV 1984)
Today, just like in the epistle of the Galatians, false teachers are still preaching a different gospel, which is not a gospel at all. This false gospel that is leading a vast religious system into spiritual deception is nothing but a Gnostic doctrine which is not from divine revelation. Latter Rain doctrine is a modern version of the classic heresy of Gnosticism and today many religious denominations are already preparing their congregations for the transformation. Unfortunately this generation is going to see soon the beginning of this “NEW ORDER OF THINGS” taking place under nothing else rather than "THE MYSTERY RELIGION" leading the world into perdition. Many will be enchanted by signs and wonders and will be easily assimilated into this “religious revival” foretold in Revelation 17.
In 2 Thessalonians 2:9-11 The Apostle Paul describes God’s judgment, which has already begun with this religious movement:
“The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with the work of Satan displayed in all kinds of counterfeit miracles, signs and wonders, and in every sort of evil that deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness.” 2 Thessalonians 2:9-11 (NIV 1984)
Jesus said: "For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. See, I have told you beforehand." Matthew 24:24-25 (New King James)
The Apostle Peter said: "But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them, bringing swift destruction on themselves. Many will follow shameful ways and will bring the way of truth into disrepute. In their greed these teachers will exploit you with stories they have made up. Their condemnation has long been hanging over them, and their destruction has not been sleeping".
